A TRIBUTE TO GREATNESS
2012-06-19
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE BEEN TO MY ABODE, YOU MAY REMEMBER THE BEAUTIFUL SPRUCE TREES OUTSIDE MY EAST WINDOW. I HAVE FELT TO PAY A TRIBUTE FOR THIS GREAT GIFT FROM GOD, ASTHEY REMIND ME OF ALL THE GREAT MEN AND WOMEN OF THE SAME STATURE, WILLINGLY STANDING IN HARM'S WAY ON THE FRONT LINES FOR LIBERTY, PROVIDING AN ANCHOR TO ALL OF US, EACH IN THEIR OWN WAY. I HOPE YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I APPRECIATE ALL OF YOU. SC Beyond the slatted blinds I see the Spruce trees, Cloaked in glorious shades of green, broad boughs lifting, swaying; Rocked to and fro by a gentle breeze; Majestic in aura, mighty in grandeur, A haven for nesters, we thrill when the birds sing. New growth, usually green, now hangs like pink berries, A sign of endurance, of continuing life; Giving comfort and succor as we pause to tarry, To satiate our spirits, where broken and weary; To nourish, renew, we feel hope and relief. There are brave men and women like these trees in stature, Giving courage and strength to those needing an anchor; These modern day Founders stand tall in their Watchtowers, Offering hope to down-trodden, shining light on misdeeds, They root out the evil; the chained become free; It's truth in the making, the goal, Liberty! And whether the greatness is man or a tree, Both gifts are created for you and for me. For God in His wisdom allows man to decide The fate of his country, by choosing a side; To soar to great heights, to win a great victory; To become master and thrive, like the mighty Spruce tree.
